Aliens, Demons, & AI Sermon Writing: Should You Be Worried?

    By Jon-Michael Sherman

    Is AI demonic?

No. Honestly, it’s more likely *your cat is. * (Just kidding... mostly.)

Let’s have some fun for a second.

There’s a wild theory floating around Christian corners of the internet:

AI is evil because it came from demons.

The idea goes something like this:

-Aliens are actually Demons or Nephilim (the offspring of fallen angels and humans).

    -Therefore, aliens are demons.

-Therefore, if AI came from alien technology, AI must be demonic.

You can almost hear the X-Files theme playing in the background.

To be fair, theologians like Michael Heiser (RIP) did argue that the spiritual realm is way more active and complicated than most Christians realize.

And yes, a lot of people live in a theological world that's basically Star Wars in a chapel.

    BUT.

Here’s the actual (and far less intergalactic) history of AI:

    The Real Origin of AI

1956 — The term "Artificial Intelligence" was coined at a summer conference at Dartmouth College.

1960s–1980s — Computer scientists developed the first "expert systems" — primitive if-then logic trees, not mind-controlling robots.

2010s–2020s — Major leaps in data storage, cloud computing, and neural networks led to today's AI models like GPT, which predict patterns in language based on massive datasets.

No fallen angels. No UFO crashes. Just a lot of math nerds, electrical engineers, and researchers fueled by coffee and ambition.

    So Is AI Demon-Free?

    Short answer: Yes.

    It’s a tool — like a hammer, a pen, or a printing press.

It can be used for good or evil depending on the human wielding it.

If you're worried AI will make you sin, you probably need to look deeper into your own heart before you blame the laptop.

What Does This Have to Do with Sermon Writing?

    Here’s the beautiful part:

You can actually redeem this technology for Kingdom work.

    Use AI to help:

    -Spark creative outlines

    -Clarify your theological arguments

-Reach more people faster with better-prepared messages

Just like you don’t need a quill and parchment to be “more holy,” you don’t need to fear modern tools — you need to steward them wisely.

    Final Thought

    AI isn't demonic.

    It’s not from Roswell.

It’s not whispering lies into your sermons.

But you know what might be demonic?

A lazy pastor who refuses to grow, steward his gifts, or communicate the Gospel clearly.

(Okay, that’s harsh... but you get the point.)

Use every good tool you can — including AI — to fulfill your calling.

Stay grounded in Scripture. Stay humble. And please, stay off the alien forums.
